Destinations Hotel reviews Japan

The Cheapest Hotel in Tokyo

The cheapest place where can you stay in Tokyo is a capsule hotel. This type of hotel is designed to accommodate a large number of people in extremely small rooms (capsules).

I am always interested to try new and weird things! So that, when I was travelling to Tokyo, I decided to stay in 9 Hours Capsule Hotel in Shinjuku.

The hotel looks like it has come straight out of sci-fi!  The area, the design of the capsules, instructions on the walls and even the lighting gives a very futuristic appearance. This capsule hotel provides a towel, a toothbrush with a small toothpaste, a shower cap, slippers and even pyjamas (yes, you heard correctly!).

In addition, every shower has toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Each capsule contains a bed, a light, a wall socket and air (don’t worry you can breathe inside).

Showers are completely private. They can be locked. There is enough space to put your stuff whilst you having a shower. The area of public showers has a huge mirror, wall sockets to charge your phone and a hairdryer – simply everything that every woman needs.

That way you can feel fresh and clean. Japanese like everything keeps superclean so you don’t need to worry about anything. 🙂

The 9hours Capsule Hotel in Shinjuku has separated floors for men and women. The rest area is near the reception where can you also leave you luggage before you check in.

This style of accommodation is perfect for a one day stay. If you are planning to stay for few days, be aware that you have to check out by 10 am and check-in is from 1 pm every day. That can be a bit uncomfortable!

The size of the cabinet for your stuff is in the picture. I was a bit worried that my large luggage will not fit. Finally, it was all ok. If you travel with a large luggage, you will be fine. 😉

It is always better to pack light or use compression bags to reduce the size of your luggage. The more travel experience I have, the more I  understand how many things are actually necessary and how many items I just don’t need at all!

The hotel also offers breakfast in next door – a toast with coffee is included.
